Brittany Campbell

Congratulations to Brittany Campbell who is December’s Hyper CrossFIT Athlete of the Month.  Our # 1 FITAID consumer always brings her energy, muscles, and A-game every time she steps into the box.  Hyper CrossFIT is her sanctuary where she can focus on herself for an hour before the daily responsibilities of being a mom and nurse take her through 12 + hour days.

Hometown: Freeland, PA

What do you do to pay your bills? Trauma Nurse in West Philadelphia

How did you learn about CrossFit and how did you end up in our awesome Box?  I’ve always been into fitness but was always nervous to try CrossFit. I found out a friend of mine belonged to Hyper so I tried it and was hooked!

What do you like most about being a FIT member (Hyper CrossFIT Athlete)?  I love so many things about being part of the Hyper Family it’s hard to say what I love the most! Of course, I love feeling strong and accomplished on a personal physical level, that goes without saying. I love being pushed to achieve more than I ever thought I was capable of, and I love to push my fellow athletes in the same way. I love hearing my daughter yell, “Go Mommy!” when I climb the rope I never thought I could climb, and I love hearing my son describe me as “buff” because it makes me feel like I am showing my children that women can be strong…and that is an important thing for both young girls and boys to see. I love that, no matter which class time I attend on any given day, I will be alongside athletes who have become friends, and I will have a coach pushing me to be the best me I can be for that hour.

What is your proudest moment/biggest accomplishment since you started? It’s a tie between the rope climb and kipping pull-ups!

What are you still working on to achieve?  Strict pull-ups!

Tell us one random fact about yourself that has nothing to do with CrossFit? I love playing bingo! I even have my own bingo bag with stampers!

What is your favorite WOD or benchmark? My favorite WODs are always the hero WODs. The most powerful WOD I have ever done at Hyper was one in honor of a woman who was a victim of domestic violence. The woman had saved her children from the tragic fate she fell victim to…she ran with them in her arms. I remember running while holding a plate thinking about how heavy it was…how heavy the woman’s children must have been as she ran with them in her arms to get them to safety. Hero WODs always motivate me, but this particular WOD was especially powerful for me.

If you created a WOD and named it after yourself, what would it be? Still thinking about what I’d name it, but it will definitely have deadlifts, rope climbs, sit-ups, and some bench presses…I guess you’ll have to wait until it’s on RhinoFit to see!!!

What advice would you offer to someone interested, but intimidated to try CrossFit?  Just try it! And keep coming back! I never thought I could do half of the things I can do today, nor did I think I would ever be as strong as I am right now when I first started!
