Congratulations to Cody Collins who is November’s Hyper CrossFIT Athlete of the Month. Read more about how needing to change up his fitness regimen landed him at Hyper CrossFIT’s front (bay) door and how working out at a Globo gym is a thing of the past!

Hometown:  Florence, NJ

What do you do to pay your bills? Drug Pricing Analyst

How did you learn about CrossFit and how did you end up in our awesome Box?  I always knew of someone who was doing CrossFit or I would flip through channels and occasionally see the CrossFit Games on ESPN. I never really understood it, until one night I was bored and watched that typical documentary that everyone knows about on Netflix. It sparked my interest and I needed a change when it came to my workout regimen so it was perfect timing. Not long after that, I canceled my membership at a local gym and googled the closest CrossFit gym to my house. Hyper CrossFIT popped up in my search, and the rest is history. I dove right in!

What do you like most about being a FIT member (Hyper CrossFIT Athlete)? I like being proud of what I do in the gym with all the members. It still amazes me the intensity our workouts require, and how far we are able to push ourselves. I’ve never worked out this hard before joining Hyper CrossFIT, and walking out of the gym after a tough workout knowing you went as hard as you could and you have nothing left to give is a great feeling.

What is your proudest moment/biggest accomplishment since you started? I would have to say hitting my most recent PR snatch was awesome; very proud of that!

What are you still working on to achieve?  Still looking to perfect the J-hook for rope climbs.

Tell us one random fact about yourself that has nothing to do with CrossFit?  I have a Master’s degree in Business Administration.

What is your favorite WOD or benchmark?  HERO WOD “JT”

If you created a WOD and named it after yourself, what would it be? I would call it Cody’s “15 Minutes to Fame” and it would go a little something like this:
AMRAP 10
5 yd Handstand Walk + 5 HSPU
5 pistols/leg
5 sets of 1 MU + 5 dips
Then:
5 mins to establish 1RM Snatch

What advice would you offer to someone interested, but intimidated to try CrossFit?  If CrossFit already has your interest, then let a free class be your deciding factor. Don’t let what you hear about CrossFit scare you. It’s a ton of fun and you’ll enjoy it from the moment you start. Next thing you know, you’ll be Athlete of the Month giving advice!

Any additional comments you would like to share? Thank you to the coaching staff for nominating me.  It’s an honor to be among the prior athletes who have been nominated. I also want to say I love and enjoy all the friends I have made since joining Hyper. I talk to some of them on a daily basis and it feels like family at this point.
